Aoibheann Carey-Philpott

Aoibheann Carey-Philpott is a songwriter, vocalist and choral director whose career has led her to perform and record both nationally and internationally.

As a lead vocalist with Jodavino, Aoibheann captivated audiences with her powerful voice and engaging performances. She has shared stages with legendary artists such as Lionel Richie, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. One of the highlights of her career was recording in Nashville, Tennessee, with multi-Grammy award-winning producer Jay Joyce.

In 2020, Aoibheann released her first solo work to critical acclaim with her “Fragments of Joy” EP. Her song “Overcome” continues to enjoy extensive national airplay and her song "Fragments of Joy" earned her a coveted spot on RTE Radio1's playlist.

Her passion for music extends beyond her original work. Aoibheann is a renowned choral director, having led the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir from 2010 to 2024 and as founder and director of the White Horse Gospel Choir, which she set up in Ballincollig's West Village in 2019. Under her leadership, both choirs have achieved significant praise, while also becoming an integral part of the community fabric, leaving an indelible mark across the city, county, and beyond. Notable highlights include performances with rock legends Rubyhorse, world-renowned pianist David Syme, the ever popular White Horse Guitar Club, and the wonderful Áine Whelan, for her rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in aid of Pieta House.

In addition to her work with choirs, Aoibheann has spent the last 11 years working for non-profits, Music Generation Cork City and also, Music in Community, an organisation devoted to bringing music into healthcare settings.
